(More customer reviews)i have used this machine on mild steel for a year or so. i use it alot. i only use this machine on steel that is 1/4" or thinner, like sheet metal. i use the 75/25 argon. .030 wire. plug this in directly to the wall if you can, it trips the reset on power strips. the cart is over priced ,but it fits well. the parts inside are somewhat hd more than other machines like the miller 140. for a 110v welder this might be the best thing going. lincoln comes with a 3 year warranty. this is easy to use. there is a guide in the side panel to help you know what adjustments and wire to run. for thicker steel i use the lincoln power mig 225. that one is nice. i use it more because i am usually welding 1/2" steel. $640 is the best price i have ever seen. if you know a student they can get discounts at welding supply stores so you can save $$

ATD Tools 7041 MIG Welding Cart Review

(More customer reviews)It's a great cart. Takes a bit of time to assemble, but it's sturdy and has a decent paint finish.
The only problem I ran into was that my welder is too wide for the top shelf.
I have a new Miller 140 Mig and the footprint is too wide for top tray.
I tried flipping top tray over but the Mig slides off of it.
This is no fault of the cart or Amazon. It just so happens that my Mig is wider than others and I should have checked first.
Make sure you check the measurements first, though I'm sure this cart is fine for most basic welders.
This cart does and will make an awesome tool cart. I will mount a power strip to it and it can be a mobile powr tool station and tool cart.

Hobart 770095 Welding Oxy-Acetylene Goggle - Flip Front 2-Inch x 4 1/4-Inch Review

(More customer reviews)This seemed like a great idea for goggles for a person who wears glasses. And they do indeed fit over the glasses. However, they don't fit the face very well due to the design. The nose piece -- really just an indentation in the plastic -- is at the level of the bottom of the lens. When I wear the goggles with the nose piece at the bridge of the nose (high enough to keep it from pinching), the bottom of the lens is at pupil height. That eliminates half of the range of vision you need for any kind of work when you might use these goggles. When I move the lens to the correct height to see everything, the nose piece pinches the end of my nose.
I'm returning these goggles.

Cuts like butter through thin steel, takes a little more time on the 1/4" stuff. But its alot cheaper to operate on sheet metal and mild steel than oxy-acetylene. Best feature of this unit is not having to adjust a single thing, no air pressure, no amperage adjustment. Just pull the trigger and cut away.

US Forge 99406 Leather Welding Apron with 42-Inch Bib Review

(More customer reviews)I ordered the Leather Welding Apron with the 42" Bib. As you can guess, my husband is a King Sized fellow. The 42" bib is really nice in that it offers more coverage than the standard smaller sizes and he loved it. The only trouble is that the fastening straps are too short. They might work on a med-large to large frame, but on a man who wears a 2-3XLT shirt, the straps are about 6" to short to even be useful.
We got a good laugh out of it and being as we are handy people we can lengthen the straps without much trouble. We are keeping the apron and I will sew lengths of webbing to accommodate his frame.
Overall, the quality is fine.

(More customer reviews)i ordered this welder about two weeks ago and it showed up today. there was some minor packaging damage, and i was a bit worried, but the welder was very well packed. i opened it all up and everything we intact and from first impressions of a very nice quality. the welding gun is heavy and feels good in your hand, compared to some real cheap welding guns which just dont feel right. i set it up, which was easy following the directions enclosed, and within a half hour i was welding nice beads on 1/4 inch steel. this thing burns hot. the voltage and amperage control is real smooth, and the wire feed works well. its a heavy unit, and the hum of the fan is nice. i recommend this welder, its a lot of machine for the price.

(More customer reviews)It has the most important features I wanted: meets the current ANSI spec, 1/12,000 sec speed and replacable AAA batteries. No graphics, just plain black, keeps the price down. It seems like a best value in a mid-range helmet. After a lot of searching on the internet, it seemed like a safe product for my purposes. I did want one that I could use for TIG welding but apparently these mid-range products aren't recommended for low-power TIG. However, I don't have a TIG machine yet and may not get one for several years, if ever.
After searching on the internet, it appears that some of the slower speed helmets can result in eye strain after a long session evidenced by a "gravely" feeling in the eyes. I used mine for several hours stitching up a 3 foot butt joint with tack welds; no indication of eye strain whatsoever. I still have 7 more feet to go. Couldn't face that many tack welds flipping a shade up and down. Those guys are right who say once you use an auto-darken helmet, you'll never go back. Clarke 131E Arc Welder - 120V, 130 Amp, Model# WE6519 Review

(More customer reviews)Good little welder so far. For the money it is put together quite well and the best part is that it's not made in China! The amperage control works very well and is easily controllable, even for small increments in temp change. The duty cycle is about 20% which isn't real long, however I have yet to time it out, plus a two minute long bead probably isn't going to be needed. If it is, a larger welder would probably be used. The leads are a bit short, especially the ground. The unit is very portable though, so the machine could probably be positioned anywhere needed to make up for the lack of length in the leads. The mask is worthless so plan on buying a regular welding helmet. The chipping hammer is funtional but I would recommend buying a good hammer and brush if you plan on doing much welding. My unit was dented slightly on the bottom when I recieved it. I do not know if this happened on it's way to me, or if the unit was damaged at an earlier time. I was able to open the unit up and straighten out the bottom to near perfect condition and the machine works just fine. One thing that would have been nice is if there was a power on light. The overload/overtemp light is built into the power switch but obviously only comes on when there is a problem. Otherwise, one has to be observant to the "hum" of the machine to verify it's on just as a precaution on top of checking the postion of the switch before setting the electrode down. Also there aren't any rubber feet on the bottom of the welder just metal "nubs" so you have to be careful you don't set the machine down to hard.
All in all a great buy for the money and is nice to use and works quite well. I would definitely recommend this welder.
