(More customer reviews)After observing the stereo installer for my car using a portable soldering iron I had to inquire about it. Too many times I have taken the lazy mans out and taped connection when working on the car or motorcycle rather than taking the time to run the extension cord and hook up a standard soldering iron; and I have paid the price in shorts and open connections at the most inopportune times.
As usual I first researched the list of portable gas soldering irons. They basically fell into two categories, those with and those without self-ignition. Well knowing how difficult it is for me to even keep up with a soldering iron much less matches or a lighter, I knew it had to have self-ignition. Then I just researched the reviews and decided on the Portasol. I am very happy that I did. It came with a full complement of accessories, lights effortlessly, is small, a full butane charge will last almost an hour, and puts out a lot of heat quickly. The only beef that I had is that it is difficult to tell that it is lit at first in bright light. But within a few seconds you can definitely feel the heat. If you do wire soldering in tight or inconvenient places, this item is without compare. Highly recommended.
