These are actually REALLY uncomfortable. The hard plastic cuts into my sinuses. Adding some sort of padding around the cups makes it ALOT more comfortable. If you are doing some quick work, then I guess it'll be fine for you but if you have anything that'll take more than 2 minutes, add some padding around the cups. For those wearing these for costume pieces, do the same.

Welder Contact Adhesive Review

Welder Contact Adhesive
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is my favorite non-instant-super-glue non-epoxy glues. Wally world usually carries it.
One interesting use I have discovered... repairing those plastic hinges on Coleman Coolers. The glue stays just flexible enough to enable it to act like a hinge again.
This is the description from their website at homaxproducts:
Welder is a clear, industrial strength all-purpose adhesive that bonds porous and non-porous materials together in both outdoor and indoor applications. Welder can be used on plastic, wood, metal, rubber, vinyl, cloth, tile, ceramic, glass, Formica®, cement, brick and more.
Welder permanently bonds, fastens, protects, seals, and caulks thousands of everyday items. It mends toys, ceramics, vases, pottery, and is useful for craft areas. It is an ideal permanent repair adhesive for sporting goods, tools, plastic caps and housings, broken light fixtures and hoses. Use it on bicycles, appliance seals, chair and table legs, and to re-affix emblems and house numbers.

Factory-Reconditioned Campbell Hausfeld RBWS280000 230-Volt AC Stick Welder Review

Factory-Reconditioned Campbell Hausfeld RBWS280000 230-Volt AC Stick Welder
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased a reconditioned model at a deep discount. It works great .. I had previously used other welders both "cracker box Lincoln" and higher end models. Arc welding is mostly dependent on using good electrodes (dry and proper type) and operator skill. Like playing a guitar, if you can weld you can weld on this machine. I added a heavy guage (awg 6) extension cord to extend the range of the welder from the power supply. I would not recommend extending the leads from the welder as they are probably just OK for the length they are (kinda short). Better to get plenty of power to the welder than to extend the leads. I have had little problem with the welder over heating even though I exceeded the duty cycle when welding on larger projects. The over heat shutoff did work though which is a nice feature. Also the welder is not all that heavy so moving it is not a problem and it has rollers for rolling about .. a nice feature.

US Forge Welding Flux-Cored MIG Wire .035 2-Pound Spool #00072
Average Reviews:

I like the 2lbs size and the price of this welding wire. I've used Lincoln since I started welding several years ago. Took it out yesterday for its first test... Needed to build a new gate for our horses. I used rusty old well pipe that I had laying around. Cleaned it up a bit with a wire brush (my grinder just died) and had at it. There was less spatter with this wire than others, it penetrated well, and it laid very smooth. The only issue I had was occasional binding in the hose. Not sure why. I have never had that happen with Lincoln wire. The gate was finished, hung, and tested. Worked great, welds are strong and look pretty decent for flux on old pipe.

This is really a nice unit accept that every one selling this same model claims its a 600 watt total Maximum output and Amazon says its a 1000 Watt unit. The litterature that comes with the unit also states Maximum output is 600 watt. So which is it, to my knowledge there is no supplement correcting the manual's claim of 600watt which Amazon is selling it as a 1000 Watt. Other than that I consider this unit very nice but watch what you pay for?

Hobart 500500 Handler 140 115-Volt 25-to-140 Amp Gas/Metal/Arc Single-Phase Wire Welding Package Review

Hobart 500500 Handler 140 115-Volt 25-to-140 Amp Gas/Metal/Arc Single-Phase Wire Welding Package
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this machine (Hobart Handler 140) more than a year ago and have put it through its paces. It comes with the regulator, switch and hose so you only need the tank. Of course you can use flux core without the tank. Remember that you can get away with welding stainless with Argon but Trimix or an Argon/CO2 mix it recommended. I already had a helmet etc. so another $120 for a new full R40 Argon tank and I was MIG welding aluminum.
This is a fully functional MIG welder that runs on 115V (20 amps) current. It is well made and I haven't had any problems with durability or malfunctions, it is quite reliable in that respect. It is quite portable and I like the safety switch which is only live when you're actually welding. I also called support once (about the liner) and they were prompt and helpful. It does have one tiny annoyance that the door latch is made of plastic and doesn't usually latch properly, but since the door hangs down when closed anyway, it really doesn't matter.
I've welded various thicknesses of mild steel, Stainless and Aluminum with it and, for the most part, it has performed as advertised. I've also used both the 1lb roles and the 10lb rolls. One tiny problem, the spring is a bit too long on the small rolls and you have to put the lock nut for them on backwards in order to get low enough friction if you're using aluminum wire.
The machine does indeed weld 3/16" steel in one pass if you go very slow and have a smooth technique. If you are looking for something to weld heavy steel often, get a stick welder for half the money, or move to a 220 machine that will run heavier wire. With respect to heavy steel, I wanted this machine just for occasional smaller welds and it delivers there. On light sheet, it is like a glue gun for metal and fully in its element. It comes with Miller type tips but I actually prefer the shorter, flat nosed, Lincoln tips (which fit perfectly) for steel.
I've also welded a lot of stainless in the 12-18 ga range with it and it has been great at that as well.
Welding aluminum with this machine, as with every MIG except a spool gun in this power range, is a tedious process. On thinner material, you need to be very fast and very smooth. On thicker material, it can be really good IF you have good karma, think happy thoughts and have everything right - see below. If you're buying it primarily to weld aluminum though - this is not the appropriate class of machine for you. Depending on what you want to do, look for a 220 machine with intelligent speed control, or a TIG, or even a henrob torch or Al "brazing" rods. No matter how good you are, it is a pain and you'll end up with at least a few bird's nests per project with this machine.
How to weld heavier aluminum with this machine.
1. use a .045 tip. The machine only takes .030 aluminum wire and they recommend a .035 tip for aluminum but it isn't big enough. You really need to move to the .045 tip for aluminum or you aren't going to weld more than a couple of minutes before you start a bird's nest factory. Tips are only about a buck a piece.
2. Keep the gun hose very straight, especially on the machine end. This is tedious and difficult sometimes but it makes a big difference.
3. Use 5 series wire (e.g. 5356 - app. $5/lb. from several online sources like weldingsupply) instead of the 4043
that you see at home depot or harbor freight. Especially at the highest amperage, the 4043 is virtually unuseable in this machine (at least without a lot of headaches), even with the nylon liner. One annoying thing is that the 5356 is harder to feed near the end of the role and will be more prone to kinking. The 5356 does seem to require a slight bit more heat so you need to always push the weld and go slow on thicker material - ideally with the material flat. This machine rates at 5-10 amps more than the other machines on the market (140 vs. 130-135). It doesn't sound like much of an advantage but I read elsewhere that you can't get penetration with the 5356 in 115V machines and that just isn't true with this machine. I have a 450 gal 1/8" aluminum hot tub to prove it.
4. Use a nylon liner if you plan to weld a lot of aluminum. They are $17-$25, mine is from Miller. Also make sure that it is perfectly cut and aligned to the drive wheel.
5. Make sure that the aluminum is very clean.
In general, it is a good machine with good support and versatility. In its niche, it is a very good choice in relation to the other brands. I don't give it all the stars really only because they should be a bit more up front in their advertising that while it does weld aluminum, the machine (like others in its class) really isn't a great choice for that.

Loctite Plastic Epoxy Review

Loctite Plastic Epoxy
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

I recently bought this product and don't know yet how well it is going to hold up.
But I do know one thing: The 2-barrel syringe-type container/"dispenser" it comes in is awful!! It seems to be trying to masquerade as an easy, one-step, no hassle dispenser. However, the reality is that one-or-the-other plungers stick or get misaligned which results in a spurt here and there, and a big, wasteful, gummy mess all over your hands and the immediate surroundings. >> Other than that, I loved the stuff!!
The least they could do is be forthright in their packaging so that lazy consumers see from the start that they are just going bite-the-bullet and mix 2 things together (big deal!). The lesson for manufacturers here is that all two-part epoxy products should be marketed in 2 separate squeezable containers not in a hypodermic needle.

These gloves were bought for my grandson who is taking a welding class in high school. At first he tried using the gloves the school sold to students. The school gloves were stiff which hindered handling ability. The cuffs only came past the wrist and left the arms unprotected. The insulation factor was minimal.
After receiving and using the gloves from Amazon my grandson reported, "These gloves are awesome!" The leather is thick for heat resistance yet soft and plyable which aides in handling ability. Between the first finger & thumb and down through the palm of the hand is an extra layer of leather. The cuffs are long and protect his arms almost to his elbow. An added feature is the wonderful blue color; he is the only one that has this color gloves. They are easy to spot and look cool.

Grizzly G8101 90° Aluminum Corner Clamp Review

Grizzly G8101 90° Aluminum Corner Clamp
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been looking to upgrade the four rather "lightweight" corner clamps that have served me reasonably well for quite a few years. I almost exclusively have used them to buld wooden picture frames, but have reached the point where I found that the small vise type rods used to tighten the clamps were becoming increasingly difficult for my old fingers to use.
The Grizzly G8101 clamp appeared to be a potenially good choice, but I was a bit hesitant concerning the single "inside clamping" system and decided to only buy one to see how well it functioned before committing to purchase three more. As it turned out, that was a prudent choice.
The clamp is indeed beefy and well built. However, I found that the lone clamp does create difficulty when attempting to get a tight fit between two pieces of a frame. The biggest issue is attempting to hold the two pieces together while tightening the clamp. Under these circumstances, one can immediately see the value of having a seperate clamp for each side of the two frame pieces being joined.
Further, when using a two sided clamping system, after a dry test fit, it is extremely helpful to only have to loosen one side to add adhesive and then firmly press that piece back into position alligning it against the one that has remained fixed in the clamp. The "Grizzly" does not allow for this type of manuver and when trying to use it, I found myself wishing for a "third hand" to complete that task.
Another problem that I noted was that the "inside corner" clamping system can tend to drive even a perfectly cut 45 degree joint a bit open on the interior part of the seam.
I have however, decided not to return the clamp as the initial outlay was not great and it might serve some other less precise need I might encounter in the future. All in all though, I cannot recommend it for fine wood framing joints. From my personal experience, I would suggest that anyone requiring a clamp for the purposes described here would be better served with a two sided holding system with well sized gripping handles.
