(More customer reviews)I've been looking for something a lot more portable than a heatgun and a 100 ft extension cord to test heat detectors, and this baby does the trick. On full setting, it provides enough heat to set off a 190* heat detector in seconds! Kind of a bummer it needs to be really close to the detector, i.e. against it, but the advantage of being able to test devices almost instantly and be portable is easily worth it.
Since its butane, it can be smelly if you let it burn for a while. And it gets really hot if you have it on full for a while. However, it lasts on long time per fillup... I tested approximately 30 heat detectors, averaging about 15 seconds a piece (some were quite finnicky), and when I went to refill it, just to make sure, it probly used only 1/6th of the butane in it.
Love this little thing. Saves a ton of troubhle for me.

Portasol 010589330 Super Pro 125 Watt Heat Tool Kit Review

(More customer reviews)If I understand correctly the Trademark Portasol is not used for distributing this product in US.
So you can find almost the same 'Weller' brand product but with a different. The Portasol have 3 or 4 more tips compare to Weller.
You might be confused because you will not be able to find the minimal power output for this product (now I know that it's 25-125 Watt).
You can try to look some detail information on a Portasol native site:
[...]but you find also that the color of a box is red in a specifications file...
Finally I find that the product I received in gray box is the same as in Specifications.
The Tool is really good.
Even the open flame is quite useful and you can keep it horizontally orientated...
This product is definitely the great one.
And additional tips is also useful features for this product.
I strongly recommended it... more than Weller brand one... because of the additional tip set Portasol have...
Refiling is quite easy... Using of this product is also easy and pleasant...some technical detail:

PS I find that reference power output or Portasol SuperPro is 25-125 Watt
but I have a feeling that you can adjust the output from 0 to 125. because on a minimal settings the flame just fade away. so I think that on a minimal setting the gas flow just stopping but maybe I am wrong... I do not measure it I just fell so :)
Also I have to mentioned that I have to adjust the power output on a considerably high level to ignite the flame.PPS hope this review is somehow useful :)

Portasol 010368100 P-50 Butane Powered Soldering Iron Review

This iron is extremely quick and easy to light with a butane lighter, so that's how I always do it.
I like the small chisel point tip that comes with it. I've soldered everything from pc boards to tin cans with it.
I like the fact that this iron isn't prone to overheating like many butane irons are.
Finally, I like the readily-available and inexpensive replacement tips.
Minuses:
I don't like the fact that I can't see the butane level.
I don't like the fact that when there is too much butane in the reservoir, the operation is erratic...it works okay until you tip it down to solder and then it does all sorts of unpleasant things (hence four stars rather than five).
All in all, it's a great iron for a good price as long as you give it only small sips of butane. Why just a "good" price? Because the Bernzomatic ST200T is at least as good and costs less. But I love them both. :)
