Flameless Heat Gun Review

Flameless Heat Gun
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been looking for something a lot more portable than a heatgun and a 100 ft extension cord to test heat detectors, and this baby does the trick. On full setting, it provides enough heat to set off a 190* heat detector in seconds! Kind of a bummer it needs to be really close to the detector, i.e. against it, but the advantage of being able to test devices almost instantly and be portable is easily worth it.
Since its butane, it can be smelly if you let it burn for a while. And it gets really hot if you have it on full for a while. However, it lasts on long time per fillup... I tested approximately 30 heat detectors, averaging about 15 seconds a piece (some were quite finnicky), and when I went to refill it, just to make sure, it probly used only 1/6th of the butane in it.
Love this little thing. Saves a ton of troubhle for me.

Don't get me wrong this is a good product but the Picture is Wrong so I gave it 3 stars. It works fine but it's not a Screwdriver tip regardless of the Name and Picture.

Weller Tip, Soldering, Narrow, Screwdriver, WP Series Review

Weller Tip, Soldering, Narrow, Screwdriver, WP Series
Average Reviews:

The Item that came is correct but the Manufacturing Process has left a hook of the outer coating metal on the tip of it making it almost Useless as a Screwdriver tip. I really need the tip to be correct for what I'm trying to use it for. I'm Very Disappointed and have contacted the seller with this issue. I Bought the Weller to Avoid these kind of issues. When the issue is fixed and they send me a new tip I will update this. =(
EDIT:
So PTOMart contacted me and due to the issues they refunded the wrong item and sent a new ST8 out that shouldn't have anything wrong with it. I'm happy with this seller now. You should feel safe buying from them "even tho the pics wrong at the moment..." And they did send it fast.
So just to clarify the ST8 does not look like the current "July 10, 2011" Picture It is a screwdriver tip as in the title.
Thank You PTOMart for Standing by what you Sale.

Was looking for a less expensive alternative to replace self igniting units such as Weller and Ultratorch. I guess you get what you pay for although the high-end brands have issues too. Once my patience was all but gone it would light and work ok.

What you see is what you get. The quality seems about the same as previous torches I've used. Hopefully this one lasts longer than the 12 months other brands have made it.

Based on features and cost, I selected the X-TRONIC 4000 rework station for my use. I ordered one and received it three days.

If you've never used one of these stations before, may I suggest that you practice on a scrap PCB that has both large and small SMDs on it? I used an a old, discarded printer PCB.
The soldering iron works very well and it's temperature controlled and is also ESD safe. As for the hot air nozzle, I removed small SMD devices with ease. I applied some rosin flux to the leads of a 100-pin IC and then I slowly moved the hot air nozzle (temp set to 300 degrees C.) around the it to preheat the IC's soldered leads. After about 30 seconds, I increased the hot air temperature to about 400 degrees C and continued moving around the IC, melting the solder. Using the "IC popper" gadget, I gently lifted the IC away from the pcb. The magnifying lens/lamp helped my old eyes to see the more clearly.
I found the vendor, The Mercantile Station, to be very responsive to questions and concerns had about the products offered, and it has a 5-Star service support rating. The vendor supports its products with a service center here in the USA. I rate the machine's internal construction as first rate as is the workmanship in its build.

Portasol 010368100 P-50 Butane Powered Soldering Iron Review

Portasol 010368100 P-50 Butane Powered Soldering Iron
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pluses:
This iron is extremely quick and easy to light with a butane lighter, so that's how I always do it.
I like the small chisel point tip that comes with it. I've soldered everything from pc boards to tin cans with it.
I like the fact that this iron isn't prone to overheating like many butane irons are.
Finally, I like the readily-available and inexpensive replacement tips.
Minuses:
I don't like the fact that I can't see the butane level.
I don't like the fact that when there is too much butane in the reservoir, the operation is erratic...it works okay until you tip it down to solder and then it does all sorts of unpleasant things (hence four stars rather than five).
All in all, it's a great iron for a good price as long as you give it only small sips of butane. Why just a "good" price? Because the Bernzomatic ST200T is at least as good and costs less. But I love them both. :)
