(More customer reviews)These are actually REALLY uncomfortable. The hard plastic cuts into my sinuses. Adding some sort of padding around the cups makes it ALOT more comfortable. If you are doing some quick work, then I guess it'll be fine for you but if you have anything that'll take more than 2 minutes, add some padding around the cups. For those wearing these for costume pieces, do the same.

I FIRST TRIED A CANISTER TYPE RESPIRATOR, BUT IT WAS HARD TO BREATH THROUGH, AND TOO BULKY FOR THE HOOD. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THESE TO TRY OUT. THEY ARE FANTASTIC. BREATHING IS EXTREMELY EASY, AND THE CHARCOAL FILTER TAKES AWAY THE FUMES. GREAT PRODUCT.

ArcOne G-HOL-A1501 Hollywood Safety Goggles Review

(More customer reviews)These safety glasses (which also come with a strap if you prefer goggles) look great and thanks to the foam around the perimeter of the lens they also form a good seal to keep debris away. I use mine primarily for when I'm riding my John Deere as grass clippings can blow around when we have much wind. The lens has a slight green tint as these were designed for welding but they can serve many other purposes as well. I prefer to wear them as glasses and they fit nicely with ear protection on- some glasses stick out and can prevent ear cups from sealing tight.

Fibre-Metal Flexible-Rigid Frame Welding Goggles - VGH5 Review

(More customer reviews)I've purchased several of these goggles for use in steampunk goggle conversion projects. They are very affordable and are a great base to work with. They take spray primer very well and are easy to trim flash, sand and prep. The only negative I saw was that the threads on the lens caps aren't exactly precisely milled/molded. This makes it difficult at times to change lenses, espeially with all my extra parts attached the lens caps.
Overall though, they ate a great affordable product for the cost, and for my purpose.

The only problem I have with them is due to where you need to wear them for the costume, it leaves a dent on your forehead. I remedied this by sticking a paper napkin in the goggles for padding. If you're making a Dr. Horrible costume, these are a must have.

Neiko Comfort-Fit Welding & Torch Safety Goggles - Flip-Up Style, ANSI Approved Review

(More customer reviews)I bought these to replace a full hood for periodic welding tasks, and I'm extremely pleased with them overall. I paid less than $10 with shipping, they were to me in a reasonable time, and they were pretty much exactly as described.
Pros: The flip-up outer lenses are extremely handy, much easier than my full hood. The lenses are mounted behind a simple retaining ring that required no special tools to remove, thus allowing me to swap out with other lenses of the appropriate size.
Cons: The clear inner lenses are cheap plastic and have an odd bevel along the edge that distorts your view.
I simply removed the inner elements. I'll be replacing them at some point with the glass from a pair of UV photography filters (such as Tiffen 52mm UV Protection Filter), since impact resistance is not a requirement. I haven't measured yet, but the lenses appear to be approximately 52mm.
In my opinion the price is definitely right on these goggles, and I surely recommend them.

Hobart 770095 Welding Oxy-Acetylene Goggle - Flip Front 2-Inch x 4 1/4-Inch Review

(More customer reviews)This seemed like a great idea for goggles for a person who wears glasses. And they do indeed fit over the glasses. However, they don't fit the face very well due to the design. The nose piece -- really just an indentation in the plastic -- is at the level of the bottom of the lens. When I wear the goggles with the nose piece at the bridge of the nose (high enough to keep it from pinching), the bottom of the lens is at pupil height. That eliminates half of the range of vision you need for any kind of work when you might use these goggles. When I move the lens to the correct height to see everything, the nose piece pinches the end of my nose.
I'm returning these goggles.

For the welders:
- Well built, inexpensive
- Both the clear and shaded glass were flat and well-attached
- The ventilation on the goggles was especially good
For the steampunk folks:
- The googles themselves are rubber-plastic, would need decoration
- Strap is decidedly modern looking
- There is (safety) text on the lenses
- Look pretty good and are cheap
