(More customer reviews)I bought this as my first welder because it had great reviews online...I wanted one to fix the floors on a vintage car. Purists scoff at flux welding but this thing produces great welds to my untrained eyes. Made in the US it came well packed with a detailed manual, spare tips and extra grounding clamp. The metal case is solid with a nice look.
I put two pieces of thick metal on my workbench and pressed the trigger. My first welds were sloppy, but after about 10 minutes I figured it out: Read the manual or watch videos online on how to hold the gun...the angle you hold the tip is the secret as does precise panning across the joint. I also bought one of the autodarkening helmets which was worth every penny, I can't imagine how people used the old helmets for decades. You should also get yourself some of the heavy leather gloves. Very satisfying.
